Journey to the frontiers of contemporary immersive art
To inaugurate its 75th anniversary celebrations, the Musée d'art de Pully is presenting an exhibition of contemporary installations that explore one of the major artistic practices in contemporary art. It invites the public to discover works specifically designed to immerse them in environments that are both captivating and disconcerting.
Many artists today are questioning the traditional perception of the work. In a rapidly evolving context where immersive art is being enriched by new technologies, particularly virtual reality, they are shaping hybrid environments that transcend the boundaries between the visual arts, the performing arts, architecture and the digital arts. Reception of the work is no longer governed by the object-subject dichotomy, but by a spatiality on the margins of art and reality, shaped by the visitor's perceptions. This theatricality creates a sensitive experience in which the audience becomes the protagonist.
The guest artists have devised narrative, abstract or performative installations, most of them designed specifically for this exhibition, that reflect their unique worlds. These works engage the public in a sensory experience, where the boundaries between viewer and work, between reality and imagination, become deliberately porous.
