The Painting with Light series features scanned and enlarged paintings printed on metallised paper and then reworked with cut-outs.
The intention of this work is to offer living works of art, intended primarily for interiors. As they react to light and movement, they generate an experience that responds to the body, beyond that of a fixed artefact.
Metallic paper brings colours to life, adding a layer of mystery and complexity, opening up the surface to the eye. Its brilliance can only be experienced in the presence of the work. On contact with it, the piece begins to move. The works change according to the light, day or night, pass through time and come alive.
The series evokes the photographic process of Maya Rochat, who defines photography as painting with light.
The series is also distinguished by its sculptural and voluminous aspect, evoking a work of drawing with space and time.
