Maya Rochat’s lithography artworks "Garden of dreams" brings to life the intricate relationship between nature and artistic intervention. Drawing inspiration from a collection of botanical slides, Maya Rochat transforms scientific documentation into dreamlike, organic compositions. These six lithographs capture the fragile beauty of endangered species, exploring how light, color, and texture can elevate into something extraordinary.

Dans le cadre de leur projet commun intitulé Dessins de l'eau, les artistes Maya Rochat et Blackout font dialoguer le son et l’image pour livrer, à travers la projection d’ondes lumineuses et sonores, un récit. Le récit d’une nature transfigurée, où les évocations d’éléments naturels rallient la matière abstraite, où la percussion de l’eau et l’apparition de formes s’interpellent, où les mélodies et les pigments se répondent. Le public immergé dans cette expérience onirique est ainsi invité, entre le dehors et le dedans, entre l’espace et le temps, à explorer le microscopique et l’infiniment grand.

This exceptionnal event at the Cercle de la Grande Société in Bern, organised in partnership with the art+château cultural association.

After a spellbinding live performance at the Tate Modern in 2018, and another at the Victoria Hall in Geneva in 2023, Maya Rochat has created a new visual and musical performance for the Great Society of Bern. The artist will change the perception of space through projections of luminous and coloured paint on the historic walls and ceiling of the Hôtel de la Musique. A new organic space in motion is gradually built up, reacting to the music and encompassing the spectators.

Photo Elysée gave carte blanche to visual artist Maya Rochat to create an immersive installation on the theme of water.

Water is coming is a holistic, dreamlike experience that exists on the fringes of our reality. Inspired by the work of Masaru Emoto, who argued that human consciousness could affect the molecular structure of water, it features montages of footage filmed on and under water that are projected side by side and superimposed onto printed images.

Maya Rochat’s images are set against a soundscape by the artist blackout. This multifaceted space, where the living world is transformed and sublimated, calls on us to step back and reflect on our experience of the world around us.

À l’automne, Photo Elysée donne carte blanche à l’artiste visuelle suisse Maya Rochat. À travers son travail, elle joue avec les images, les superpose et les manipule pour réaliser des montages visuels colorés et saturés qu’elle présente sous forme d’installations singulières et texturées. Maya Rochat explore la photographie, la peinture, l'installation et la performance. Travaillant in situ, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur des institutions traditionnelles, son travail reflète un intérêt artistique pour le langage organique, exprimé par différents médiums, qu'il soit analogique ou numérique, figuratif ou abstrait, imprimé ou en mouvement.

Photo Esplanade s’associe en 2024 au projet multidisciplinaire « Regarder le glacier s’en aller ». S’inscrivant dans un riche programme de manifestations en Suisse, l’exposition invite à considérer notre relation à l’environnement à travers le travail d’une artiste.
À cette occasion, Maya Rochat investit l’esplanade du château et livre un kaléidoscope floral créé à partir d’un fonds d’archives sauvé de la disparition. Dans cette série, elle intervient directement sur des diapositives collectées par un couple de passionnés. Savamment malmenées par les abrasions et les acides, les images scientifiques sont transmutées par l’artiste en un herbier poétique aux couleurs saturées. Si la dégradation physique des photographies évoque immanquablement celle de l’environnement, Maya Rochat insuffle néanmoins à ses créations une énergie intense, celle suscitée par son émerveillement pour la nature et ses mystères.

Maya Rochat is one of the finalists in the photography category of the Swiss Design Awards 2024!
3 magical collages are made up of several layers of inkjet print on transparent film and polarizing film (light modulator with dimmer).
The polarizing film changes the color of the image according to the movement of the body, creating an effect as playful as it is spectacular.
The artist book "poetry of the earth" accompanies the installation.
